We dont usually do much for Halloween - maybe a witches hat and a cloak or a witches cat if we really push the boat out.
Last year Abbi decided she wanted to make a headless halloween costume. Hmmmm.
It sounded tricky, but was amazingly easy and cheap. One trip to the charity shop later, we were the proud owners of a long black dress and a black polo neck - both for £5.
I didnt take many photos of the process, but basically we needed something to create the fake shoulders - a cardboard box was shaped (you can see how roughly we did this) and put it in a small black rucksack that created a bit of bulk, and kept the fake shoulders quite high and secure.
Really bad photo, but the cardboard and rucksack are put inside dress and jumper. We bulked up the jumpers arms and neck with newspaper and tape, and tucked a bloody white rag in the stump.
And some very bad sewing to make hands that were filled with cotton wool and sewn on to the jumper sleeves...
Sharpie and a surgical dressing for round the neck - I put some red on the gloves too.
Cut a hole in the dress around the stomach area so you can pop the head through.
And there it is headless costume in under an hour!

Diana, this is so cool...my brother had a costume like this years ago...yours is better! ;)
ReplyDeleteThanks Kim - you will have just made Abbis day (and mine!) with that comment.
