Paper Garland Craft

Its a horrid wet rainy London day.....Abbi has decided to put some (more!) Christmas decorations in her room.

She is not one for the "less is more" maxim.

This was such an easy and satisfying craft.

We used silver embroidery thread, coloured paper and double sided tape.  Easy peasy!

First we cut out about a gajjillion circles.  (That should be a word btw).

I have a pad of paper from Paperchase that has a great selection of bright colours. It was perfect for the job, but obviously any paper would do - They look great with anything -  newspaper, paint chips -  even just white paper.....go mad!

For ours, we used a 2.5cm cutter.

Then we strung the circles onto the thread, leaving 5(ish) cm gaps, and randomizing (by now spellcheck is not happy) as we went.

A small strip of tape on one circle, then sandwich the other with the thread in between.  At one point we had a lovely production line going.....and even my son joined in (though he declined to be photographed for this blog).

Although they dont look great in this picture (and some of the others), the colours are really fab. I was too lazy to want for my camera battery to recharge, and used my camera phone for a lot of the shots.

So easy, so effective.....and like puppies, not just for christmas as my daughter tells me.

The colours look amazing next to the stained glass window in her room.

Dont look too closely at the windows....havent been washed in a while.

In other decorating news around PSGC towers....my attempts to have a tasteful christmas are being thwarted by Abbi....

She has kidnapped a portion of our tree for the christmas cookies and candy canes.

I have to resist the temptation to be the "rearranging fairy" in the middle of the night!

This minimalist tree is more my taste. Certainly not everyones as my son keeps telling me.

Abbis handmade cookies above were decorated at a Delight a local independent bakery where she did a class this week. (....im way too controlling for that much icing and glitter).   Breath breath breath!

The other little girl is the owners daughter, as Abbi was the only girl booked on the course.  Dee the owner/baker was incredibly patient with Abbi, and spent loads more time than the class was really for.

The class was so much fun.
